Indaba Conference

Upcoming:  Indaba Conference 2017 By City Of Durban.

Indaba Conference 2017:

Tourism INDABAIndaba Conference is all about business connections and quality meetings that help tourism professionals form strategic partnerships and would be hosted by the city of Durban in the year 2017. South African Tourism owns and manages two tourism trade show exhibitions which are Indaba conference and Meetings Africa. The objective for both trade show platforms is to create a market access and also to stimulate business growth for tourism products and services in Africa.

In an official press release by the South African Tourism it was said that in 2017, Indaba conference will be hosted by the city of Durban and province of KwaZulu-Natal from the 6th to 8th May 2017. The tourism agency also said in the statement that Meetings Africa would be hosted by the city of Johannesburg and the Gauteng province from 28 February to 1 March 2017.

INDABA 2014 REVIEW:

A Rapid Review on INDABA conducted in the year 2014 investigated the roles INDABA plays in African tourism and also suggested ways in which to enhance the program moving forward. These suggestions included execution strategies to help elevate the trade show exhibition and pairing with a strategic partner was one of the options suggested to the organizers of INDABA.

SOUTH AFRICAN TOURISM REVIEW OF INDABA CONFERENCE:

South African Tourism after the Rapid Review subsequently issued an “Expression of Interest” notice to the general public where firms were invited to submit proposals, in line with a set criterion, and to demonstrate their suitability to be the possible strategic partner of the program. South African Tourism further issued a technical specification to the shortlisted bidders. Following great deliberation, South African Tourism has concluded that the strategic partnership model offered by the Rapid review is not the best option to elevate INDABA and Meetings Africa at the present moment. Therefore South African Tourism confirms that, through its leading marketing and communications agency, it’s newly set up exhibition and strategic Events division, and its exhibitions management they would be able to deliver INDABA and Meetings Africa into the future.

For host city of the 2017 edition Durban, this is what INDABA is all about as Durban Tourism CEO Philip Sithole says Durban has been able to showcase more of its product offering citing township tourism as an example of the city is expanding its product offering to showcase the city beyond its lovely coastal attractions. He was also more resolute in his approach saying the city had used the event to make sure tour operators know what the strategy is for the province.
